Harrison Industrial Services Inc. designs and builds machines.
Shown here is a machine that was designed and fabricated for a customer that makes printing plates for the box printing industry.
This machine punches holes in the edges of the printing plates that the customer makes.
This job included the design and manufacture of the actuating cylinders, the tool steel punches and dies, the pneumatic controls, and all of the parts in between.
This machine is interesting in that its design incorporates a somewhat unusual customer requirement.
The customer did not have much floor space to dedicate to this piece of equipment, so the equipment needed to be incorporated into the customer's existing worktable to save space.
(The steel framework that the equipment was mounted on simulated the framework of the customer's worktable, where the machine will be mounted.
This framework also provided a way to support the machine for shipment.)
Once installed at the customer's facility, the machine's punch heads would "swing up" when needed and "swing down" to save space when not in use.
The controls include "TWO HAND ANTI-TIEDOWN" logic to prevent accidental actuation of the "swing up / down" function.
The system provided a way to "lock-out" punches that the customer did not want to actuate when he initiated the punch cycle.
When plate material was inserted into the punch heads, a foot pedal initiated the punch cycle.
